A Thousand Desires

This post is not my work. I found this poem and really really liked it so thought of sharing it here.

A Thousand Desires such as these(Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi)

A thousand desires such as these
A thousand moments to set this night on fire
Reach out and you can touch them
You can touch them with your silences
You can reach them with your lust
Rivers mountains rain
Rain against a torrid hill’s cape
A thousand
A thousand desires such as these

I loved rain as a child
As a lost young man
Empty landscapes
Bleached by a tired sun
And then
And then suddenly it came
Like a dark unknown woman
Her eyes scorched my silences
Her body wrapped itself around me
Like a summer without end

Pause me, hold me, reach me,
Where no man has gone
Crossing the seven seas
With the wings of fire
I fly towards nowhere
And you
Rivers mountains rain
Rain against a scorched landscape of pain

A thousand desires such as these
A thousand moments to set this night on fire
Reach out and you can touch them
You can touch them with your silences
You can reach them with your lust
Rivers mountains rain
Rain against a torrid hill’s cape
A thousand
A thousand desires such as these

It's Not You,It's Me

We are brought up with the notion that love is eternal. Falling in love is like Christmas in July, like the blossoms on an early spring morning, like the first flakes of snow on a lonely winter evening. And let me tell you from my own personal experience that it is all that, and so much more. Falling in love doesn't ask for any permission, it doesn't give you any chance, it just happens. And once it happens, your life takes a complete turn. Your routine(even though in my case it just included sleeping and watching movies) goes for a toss. Your friends seem a tad less important and you are floating in a sort of a dreamland. You get to know the other person more, you share everything and open up to the other person completely. Some would say that you leave yourself completely vulnerable but then that is the charm of love. You recall all the love songs you've ever heard, and they seem to be written for you. All the romantic movies u've seen flash through your mind, and they all tell your story. You've always heard that love lasts forever. Romeo and Juliet, the greatest ode to love by Shakespeare ends tragically with Romeo dying for the love of his life. Heer Ranjha, Laila Majnu, stories, stories and more stories that tell us that when two people fall in love, that's it. End of story.
They are supposed to be together for the rest of their lives. Or so they tell us...

But in reality, love can end. And it does most of the times. You develop differences, conflicts start over the smallest of things, like the shirt you are wearing. You cannot agree on the simplest of things, like what to have for lunch. And suddenly, the bubble bursts. The idea of"ETERNAL" love goes crashing out of the window. You never saw lovers fighting in a movie, never had a situation where they couldn't see face to face.
So what do you do next?? You try to make it up to the other person, apologize for your transgressions and promise to yourself that you would be a better person from now on, you would make it work, no matter what. But things don't get better so there is just one thing left to do, to break up. You'll be down for a while, you'll feel like the world has come to an end, you wouldn't feel like seeing the face of another person for the next couple of years. But its better that labouring on under the illusion that "ALL IZZ WELL" when infact "ALL IZZ HELL!" just because that is what you were told. Because you are "DESTINED" to be together. So instead of being miserable for the rest of your life, be miserable for a few months. Because believe it or not, you will get over it. The misery will end. The sun will shine again, the birds will chirp again. And who knows you might be there again for the first snow fall another lonely winter evening.

So next time you feel your relationship is not going anywhere, take the lead and say " Hey listen, we need to talk. IT'S NOT YOU, IT'S ME!!" And move on...

P.S: Take my photo off the wall, if it just wont sing for you
Cuz all that's left is gone away, and there is nothing there for you to prove.

The Stories They Tell Us

Everywhere in this world, where ever i look around, where ever i go,i always meet some one who's telling me what i ought to do.People are always judging your actions according to the standards set by them.Whatever you do ought to conform to those standards, otherwise you will be termed as inquitous.Your every action will become tainted. And this starts right from the childhood.A child is told by his parents that he should not ask for more and be contended with what he gets.People are told that they should fulfill only their needs, not their desires. We are told that wanting more is a sin.We are told that every man is his brother's keeper. One must think of the needs and wants of others before themselves. We are told that thinking of our happiness is immoral. We must sacrifice our feelings, our happiness and our desires for other's sakes.
I have something to ask to all of those who say this.If a person who by toiling hard day and night, rises up in this world and becomes successful, then why shouldn't he be allowed to cherish the fruits of his labors? Why should he think of the bum who slept all day, complained that this world was an unfair place and there were no opportunities for poeple like him to grow, instead of going out there and making opportunities for himself. Why should the successful man,who slaved while the bum deplored, feed the mouths of him and thousands of others like him??Why should he not be allowed to partake of all the luxuries he can afford?
Why is it considered immoral to think about your needs and desires?Anyone who reads this,i want your honest opinion on this question. Why does this world consider placing your good over the good of others bad?

Choosing your Destiny

Destiny is something that everyone of us has blamed at one point or the other during our lives.Even i used to do it,but now i have realised something.Everything that happens to us depends on the choices we make. All along the way, fate asks us certain questions. The way we choose decide where we will end up.In the Harry Potter series,Professor Dumbledore once said,

"Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory."

The important point here is having to make a choice between what is right and what is easy. And this one decision decides what a person will become. There are two ways of living your life.Either you base your decision on what is right for you, what you really want, what will keep you happy.Or you think about the way people will react to your actions and do what you think will please them.

As far as i believe, the first way is the right way o live your life.this way, even if something goes wrong, you can proudly say that you did what you wanted, and you will do your best to work out the tough situations in life, because you have faith in your decision. However, more often than not people choose to live their lives according to the expectations of others. They choose to do what makes others happy, instead of doing what would make them happy. But the moment people choose this path in life, they expose themselves to a very great danger. They will end up compromising in their lives, they will never realise their full potential, sacrificing their happiness, settling for the next best thing when they could have listenedto their hearts and had gone that extra mile to attain total happiness. They'll end up being moderate when they could have achieved greatness.

And then one day, standing in front of the mirror, they'll look into their own eyes, see the sadness hidden in them, and realise where they could have been if they had listened to their hearts instead of listening to others. They will realise this one day and after that day, they'll never be happy again. The make believe world they have created for themselves will come crashing down. But it takes courage to accept this, and most of them wouldnt have that sort of courage in them.

They'll say to themselves that it isn't their fault that they are not happy. Its what destiny had in store for them. Its in their fate that they are unhappy, that they are just lumbering on in life without any motivation. They do not realise that there is a script that dictates their life, but it wasnt written by some unknown hand before they were born.It has been written by themselves,nd its dictated by the choices they have made all along their lives. They chose to do what was easy, and in the end that has made all the difference between true happiness and a meaningless life.Their fate was written by the choices they made, and they chose to become who they are.

What I'm doing here??

I'm gonna start by writing bout me.I'm really confused about life ryt now.I have no idea where i'm headed, what i'm doing here, where is life gonna take me.Nd it feels very strange to be in dis sort of a situation, where you are so out of touch with reality.Total confusion is what describes me right now,nd this is leading me to explore some unknown areas of my life.I'm learning about the spiritual side of my existance,nd i think i might like what i find.I'm trying to go through all the decisions that i took, which have brought me to the place i am in life ryt nw.Nd as soon as i find those reasons,i think i might become a better person than i am ryt nw!
