It's Not You,It's Me

We are brought up with the notion that love is eternal. Falling in love is like Christmas in July, like the blossoms on an early spring morning, like the first flakes of snow on a lonely winter evening. And let me tell you from my own personal experience that it is all that, and so much more. Falling in love doesn't ask for any permission, it doesn't give you any chance, it just happens. And once it happens, your life takes a complete turn. Your routine(even though in my case it just included sleeping and watching movies) goes for a toss. Your friends seem a tad less important and you are floating in a sort of a dreamland. You get to know the other person more, you share everything and open up to the other person completely. Some would say that you leave yourself completely vulnerable but then that is the charm of love. You recall all the love songs you've ever heard, and they seem to be written for you. All the romantic movies u've seen flash through your mind, and they all tell your story. You've always heard that love lasts forever. Romeo and Juliet, the greatest ode to love by Shakespeare ends tragically with Romeo dying for the love of his life. Heer Ranjha, Laila Majnu, stories, stories and more stories that tell us that when two people fall in love, that's it. End of story.
They are supposed to be together for the rest of their lives. Or so they tell us...

But in reality, love can end. And it does most of the times. You develop differences, conflicts start over the smallest of things, like the shirt you are wearing. You cannot agree on the simplest of things, like what to have for lunch. And suddenly, the bubble bursts. The idea of"ETERNAL" love goes crashing out of the window. You never saw lovers fighting in a movie, never had a situation where they couldn't see face to face.
So what do you do next?? You try to make it up to the other person, apologize for your transgressions and promise to yourself that you would be a better person from now on, you would make it work, no matter what. But things don't get better so there is just one thing left to do, to break up. You'll be down for a while, you'll feel like the world has come to an end, you wouldn't feel like seeing the face of another person for the next couple of years. But its better that labouring on under the illusion that "ALL IZZ WELL" when infact "ALL IZZ HELL!" just because that is what you were told. Because you are "DESTINED" to be together. So instead of being miserable for the rest of your life, be miserable for a few months. Because believe it or not, you will get over it. The misery will end. The sun will shine again, the birds will chirp again. And who knows you might be there again for the first snow fall another lonely winter evening.

So next time you feel your relationship is not going anywhere, take the lead and say " Hey listen, we need to talk. IT'S NOT YOU, IT'S ME!!" And move on...

P.S: Take my photo off the wall, if it just wont sing for you
Cuz all that's left is gone away, and there is nothing there for you to prove.
