The Stories They Tell Us

Everywhere in this world, where ever i look around, where ever i go,i always meet some one who's telling me what i ought to do.People are always judging your actions according to the standards set by them.Whatever you do ought to conform to those standards, otherwise you will be termed as inquitous.Your every action will become tainted. And this starts right from the childhood.A child is told by his parents that he should not ask for more and be contended with what he gets.People are told that they should fulfill only their needs, not their desires. We are told that wanting more is a sin.We are told that every man is his brother's keeper. One must think of the needs and wants of others before themselves. We are told that thinking of our happiness is immoral. We must sacrifice our feelings, our happiness and our desires for other's sakes.
I have something to ask to all of those who say this.If a person who by toiling hard day and night, rises up in this world and becomes successful, then why shouldn't he be allowed to cherish the fruits of his labors? Why should he think of the bum who slept all day, complained that this world was an unfair place and there were no opportunities for poeple like him to grow, instead of going out there and making opportunities for himself. Why should the successful man,who slaved while the bum deplored, feed the mouths of him and thousands of others like him??Why should he not be allowed to partake of all the luxuries he can afford?
Why is it considered immoral to think about your needs and desires?Anyone who reads this,i want your honest opinion on this question. Why does this world consider placing your good over the good of others bad?

  2. i agree completely...
ppl call this being "self centred".....but i say if u've really worked hard to achieve something then u have all the rights in the world to enjoy the luxuries that come up as a consequence....
nd if this is being selfish...then be it!!!

  4. lord Krishna have told in GEETA that everything u see around u is fake and will be vanished someday....so dont worry what others think abt u.....live ur life in such a way so u can get real peace of mind.......as u write in ur another post that u r leaning towards spirituality...so u can get this state only when u remove all ur worries frm ur mind....btw....thoughts are very nice

  6. i agree with what you have written here but the sad part is that we have to learn to live with it and accept the fact that we cant change the way people think or behave. But we can decide not to turn out like others and if we are successful in that ,world would be a better place to live. And its not that only others are being judgemental ,we too commit the same crime many times...knowingly or unknowingly..madhavan ne bola naa 3 idiots main "dost first aa jaaye to jyada bura lagta hai :)"...its quite natural..so dont feel bad if ppl judge u or criticize u ...u should be proud that u have made them notice u ..i believe that u should desire as much as u can ...be true to urself and give a rat's Ass to what people say .suna hai naa "those who matter dont care and those who care dont matter"

  7. nicely written
but this is the truth of life that is to be accepted by everyone.
each one of us have to face comparison and always be be criticized for not doing the thing other person has done.

  8. why to care about what they say ???
just place your ambitions above others. Julius ceaser was criticized for being ambitious but they surely constructed the path for his glory.
also remember what abhishek said in guru "agar log apke khilaf bol rahe hain toh samajh lo aap tarakki kar rahe ho.". the world is jealous of your achievements coz they are vindicated of the pride you have in you...

  9. One should not care what others think and say!!..Listen to all but do whatever you think is right...i mean to say be a good listener but you shoud possess good decisive power...Its really hard for human beings to give up their desires and they ask for more as its their tendency.Only to get all the comforts in life one works hard all day long...and yes ofcourse its quite obvious that he/she is allowed to possess all the luxuries in life...I don’t think there is anyone who is denying the fact...Its all about greatness of a human being. If your conscience allows you to watch, let the other person die of hunger only because he is not successful let him be...If you don’t want to care what the others say,why u want to be appreciated by all??...lets take for instance Mahatma Gandhi whatever he has done,he has done for the sake of the nation scarifying all the luxuries and comforts..The reason being he did where his happiness lied...So its the concept of happiness which is distinct for distinct people...Scientist works out for the development of the country...You must be knowing that in india as well as in other countries scientists are given administrative posts as a reward for contributing in science and technology....And in india most of the known scientists have taken up the administrative job because their happiness lied in name fame and money...But in foreign countries more than half of the known scientists didn’t took up the administrative posts because their happiness lied in contributing to the science more...and thats why they are more developed!!But it doesn’t imply that Indian scientist are wrong and others are right..!!...It all depends on how people think and what they consider more important in their lives??..Their are many factors which influence ones priorites in life..!!

  10. I should say this article is very much inspired by Ayn Rand...(dont mind it dude).... objectivist philosophy does evoke contradictions but people who want to live by it wont mind them.... i think u have started accepting that philosophy and all of those who think this attitude towards society showcased here can be followed, do read Atlas Shrugged by ayn rand ... And all i can say is dat this the views in this article is very much true and worth following in real life..

  12. Being successful and not enjoying the fruits of success ll be stupid :) Now you don't have to do it at the expanse of others! You work hard, earn money, achieve goals, earn respect, become happy.. end of the story!

"Why should the successful man,who slaved while the bum deplored, feed the mouths of him and thousands of others like him??" - Probably because everyone is a bum at some point in life :)

"Why should he not be allowed to partake of all the luxuries he can afford?" He is definitely allowed to enjoy the luxuries! As far as bitching goes.. that's going to be everywhere :) Even if you spend your life feeding those bums.. bi*ching is still goin to be around! So.. walk the way you like.

"Why does this world consider placing your good over the good of others bad?" - why would someone possibly need to compare :) at least I have found little situations in my life when I had to choose one of these two - my own good.. and the 'good of others'.. They are always in line. That's the beauty.
